Applying for a Fiancé Visa
If you are engaged to a UK citizen or a person with settled status in the UK, you may be eligible to apply for a Fiancé Visa to enter the UK and get married. At Hurlingham Law, our experienced immigration advisors can guide you through the Fiancé Visa application process and help you meet the eligibility requirements.
Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for a Fiancé Visa, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be over the age of 18
- Be in a genuine relationship with a UK citizen or a person with settled status in the UK
- Intend to get married within six months of arriving in the UK
- Meet the financial requirements
- Meet the English language requirements
Preparing a Strong Application: To increase the likelihood of a successful Fiancé Visa application, it is important to prepare a strong application with supporting documents. Our immigration advisors can assist you in gathering the necessary documents, including:
- Proof of identity and relationship with your UK partner
- Evidence of meeting the financial requirements
- Evidence of meeting the English language requirements
- Any other documents relevant to your application
We can also provide guidance on how to address any issues or concerns that may arise during the application process.
Note: you cannot work during the 6-month fiancé visa. Once married, however, you can apply for the spouse visa – at which point you are allowed to take on employment in UK. After 5 years on the spouse visa you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), followed by British Naturalisation.
